Environments and Story
It’s time for our sixth development update, in this one I’ll be going through the environments and story in Sanctum 2!
Both the levels and the environments in Sanctum 1 proved to be one of the game’s strongest points, but the transition between them wasn’t ideal – they were very isolated from each other and there wasn’t much to explain what happened between the maps, or even why the player was there. This was acceptable for the time, but we realize that if we want to compete with bigger developers with bigger budgets, we need to make this transition much smoother and cooler.
Players will transition between maps in a much better way in Sanctum 2 compared to Sanctum 1. Sanctum 2 will have a world-map divided into four different areas, and players will notice that the environments will be very visually different from each other. Furthermore, the type of enemies you encounter will vary depending on what area you are in.
All levels in one area have to be completed in the right order to reach the next area. Furthermore, the game’s story will also be presented to the players through a completely unique comic-book strip which will include all the main characters and really flesh out the Sanctum universe. The comic book pages will be unlocked every time you complete a map, and will be conviniently presented during loading times between maps.
One of the most frequent requests after Sanctum 1 was “more story!”, and I can’t put into words how excited we are to reveal much more of the Sanctum universe to our fans!
Kisses and hugs,
